i am going to change a few things on the bike in the coming weeks.
the main changes are going to be
deer head xt m700 thumbshifters,
deer head xt m700 front and rear mechs,
deer head xt m700 brake levers & cantilever brakes.
and a different wheelset.
it was quite a challenge gathering the old m700 stuff,
but if you search hard enough the right bits will turn up.

Deer head stuff will look great!

updated pics, breezer has just had the deer head treatment.
also added a nice pair of xt flat pedals.
the brakes were a pain to set up but got there in the end.
just need to get out and test ride it now.
but feeling very happy so far, just waiting on some silver cook bros canks and possibly a silver ritchey seatpost.

just taken pictures with the silver cooks. overall i'm happy with how the bike turned out, it has a very comfortable riding position.
that being said i am struggling to find a comfortable position for the thumbshifters, they just dont feel very ergonomic.
i also found flat pedals are not for me, i dont feel any connection with the bike using flat pedals, the old xt spd's are great.
the brakes are fantastic, they really stop well. and the shifting in the gears is great.
i am very happy with the look and feel of the deerhead components, the brooks saddle is very comfy, and the bullmoose bar is great.
but i have to say, this will never be taken on any retroride in the future, i just feel it is not set up for anything but roads & the occasional light single track & canal rides.
