Therefore I wouldn't go near it unless you have an airfed mask, which I hazard a guess that most retrobiker's don't have.

You probably need to stop guessing....

I’m 51 years old, I’ve been professionally spraying since I was 21, I have an air fed full face mask.

Re: 1981 Claud Butler Colstar - Shimano 105 #035210 FINISHED-ish

I must admit I was tooled up- but only for normal paint so still lacked a fresh air supply and being a retard chose a warm day with little breeze and painted them outside and hung them up in the shed to cure.

The paint is amazing compared to the regular stuff and covered so well it was like as a kid moving from a cheap felt tip pen to a quality sharpie there’s no going back.

Jokes aside - I have heard some bad shite about the cyanide within the activator which becomes an aerosol and easily inhaled

Re: 1981 Claud Butler Colstar - Shimano 105 #035210 FINISHED-ish

Isn't that only if you break the aerosol between your teeth when captured?

I desperately wanted to test out the Colstar today, so when the rain backed off to just mildly moist, we dashed out.. :D

And I wasn’t in the bit disappointed, I’m not sure what I was worried about but this bike felt so good..

In comparison to the Majestic, unsurprisingly its like chalk & cheese, at 23lb & 10 oz, the Colstar is over 3lbs lighter than Madge, and with 73 degree angles and a 40” wheelbase compared to 72 & 43” it was very sprightly in the corners… the Shimano indexed gears of course were a joy to operate sequentially going uphill compared to the friction lever last minute guess on the Majestic.
I’m not so sure about the seat position yet, I’ll take an allen key out with me next ride and try a few different places. :D

So here is what she's wearing right now, in this semi-finished state;

1981 Claud Butler Colstar #035210

Looking good with the white tape etc.. Silver is not my favourite colour, but having seen this and done the Pro its growing on me. I see the 49 CB Cat list 'the famous CB Silver' for the path models inc the Inter, I could do mine that colour again and have a matching pair. There's several coats of paint on it currently, none look like silver.

Re: 1981 Claud Butler Colstar - Shimano 105 #035210 FINISHED-ish

I've enjoyed riding this bike so much this summer, that I decided to go for a re-spray & upgrade....

Possibly more bronze than gold?

And the complete 105 group has been replaced by;
DuraAce 7800 shifting levers, brakes, crankset, bottom bracket, front & rear derailleur & 10sp cassette.
DuraAce 7700 36h hubs & QR skewers.
DuraAce 7400 stem & headset
600EX pedals
600AX aero post

THM & LGF often complain my builds take too long, well this one only took 7 minuets :D ....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8pJ8aooIU4
