USA maggot cruiser.

Is that a real issue there to get anything stolen?
Always an issue. People steal things just because they can. They don’t need a worn out beach towel with holes in it but they feel honor bound to take it. They take stuff of an enclosed porch. This fall someone took an old woman’s Raleigh frame from my junk stash. Nothing on that frame fits anything else. The seat stays were cut off. It’s the USA, not Japan.

I repaired the original equipment kick stand. I used a gob welded big old bolt. It wouldn’t stay put, it kept going as the stop was shot and the bike kept falling over. I have a box of good kick stands but using a good one wouldn’t be any fun. I got the seat post unstuck. The vice grips are to keep it from dropping into the seat tube as it is a wedge type. The fender stays are in place. 00418D37-7244-4456-A1BF-0CDBB6C70BF2.jpeg 824C3EB7-5E08-4BDC-9BFF-52624A7630B0.jpeg 05D393A7-2B7D-4D41-AF6E-C01F70554205.jpeg

Well, no corn cob grips until next summer. I had some cobs drying overnight on the wood stove. At 4 am when I took out our 9 week old Brittany puppy for one of her 3 night time potty breaks she got them off and destroyed them. Yum. I get pretty groggy after these early hour walks. She has us trained, she won’t do any business if she is tied up to a lead attached to our porch. She just barks and whines incessantly until you walk her. I’ll temporarily use some old fashioned red heater hose. CC24D7B7-CA29-4A1A-A542-B62FF233CA9C.jpeg

I was going to use dried corn cobs for grips. I had them drying on the wood stove. Our Brittany puppy ate my project. The old dog ate my homework excuse. It takes too long for me to complete the drying by the 15th. I’ll use old red rubber heater hose, but I still eventually want to use cobs. 303756EB-58EE-427E-9FC6-2B2780CE962D.jpeg 5CCB1114-142B-4FA7-9251-287BB2A351FE.jpeg

It’s alive. Grunty stiff bent everything. It’s a medicine bicycle, hard to ride. It’s been warm this winter with more days of rain than snow. I don’t remember another winter like this. It’s +1C and has rained all day. That’s warm enough to work outside without gloves for 3 hours.
Dog leg crank. They used this design in the 1930s to clear chain guards. 4F543890-F1FD-493C-9051-5A03ECAAF948.jpeg
Maggot details. I still have to put on grips, but it’s ready for tavern cruising. Front wheel detail. 61BE28CA-4262-4E7F-A86C-0DF0A1A7F6CD.jpeg

Love it - but I have to object to the handlebars. You are not 12 anymore, don't need to do that paper round and know ET is a BS story.

You should know much better. :p Can you not flip them, cut the ends off to make some bull-horns in honour of "funny bikes / low profiles"?

The argument is compelling considering the wind chill factor and shaving off a few grams.
