Just want to clear my name with those involved

There are two wrongs here as far as I can see. One was swapping a frame that had a duff BB, and the other was an over-reaction. But it's all sorted now so end of story.

    Karma Section.? poll added.

Great idea. Can't wait to stay logged on all the time to see what I can get for nothing, even things I might not know yet that I need desperately! I could even build up a stock of stuff for future projects, just in case.        :roll...

'I sold something to Sithlord but it never arrived' thread

About a year ago I started a thread based on moderators' perks because I suspected that an un-named moderator seemed to be getting a lot of good items before other people had a chance. Apart from one or two responses I was told by everyone that this couldn't happen and I was being paranoid, so...

'I sold something to Sithlord but it never arrived' thread

This isn't just a random question, but as a point of interest do I remember the chap in question being a moderator some time ago?

    A thread about politics

Here we go again Important and complex situations being discussed in terms of lazy, national stereotypes and cliches. It has to be the fault of the nasty Germans wanting to over-run Europe, aided by those cheese-eating surrender monkeys, the French. Rule Britannia !!!

    Slipping Seatpost

Is gritty grease anything like copper grease, which contains small particles of copper. Cheap at motor parts shops.

    USA riding... Nevada...?

+1 Unless you have to go there for work or love to gamble don't do it. By day it's possibly the tackiest place in the States. Try Colorado - it's great for all sports and has proper weather - summers and winters. Great places like Durango, Leadville, Boulder and Grand Junction (see the film...

Christopher Jefferies. Hope I Am Never A Murder Suspect!

Newspapers in general, but tabloids in particular (and I include the Daily Mail although they don't like being compared to the Sun/Mirror) always hide behind the mantra of "Freedom of the Press" when justifying their sleazy methods of gathering and printing gossip. They insult the principle...

Those mudguards are great, are they retail or home made?

    How old is too old?

There's no cut-off age as shown in earlier replies, so keep riding as long as you enjoy it, but if you get to the point where you spend more time in a year recovering from falls than you do in riding it might be time to consider sticking to easier rides

November 2011 'Made In Taiwan Special' BoTM - VOTE NOW

Some good bikes, any of which I'd be happy to own, but choice comes down to Avanti or Merlin for me, partly because of the "usual suspects" nature of many of the other makes. Let's see more of the lesser known brands.

    RetroBike Rides: November Newsletter

Congrats to MarcTwoTone on his win. Any chance of a pic of the ProCompXt to see what it looks like after its rebuild. Can't remember the name of the chap who donated it, but a very generous gift.

    Thanks, that looks spot-on :D

Old Raleigh upgrade plus Specialized stem query

I've been given a 12 year old, virtually unused basic Raleigh mtb for my daughter. It's as good as nos condition but heavy & horrible gears, steel canti brakes, chainset, bars/stem etc. On the plus side no marks at all on the frame, good saddle, tyres and decent alloy wheels. The bike will...

    converting to disc's

OMG I never knew there were so many rules regarding what is right or wrong when owning old bikes. Perhaps the mods ought to draw up a set of rules about what's acceptable to help prevent people who just want to enjoy their bikes committing a real faux pas.

I don't like MTB ebay & marketplace watch

As I said at the start I know it's selfish and irrational and said a bit tongue in cheek and I know it's useful as lots of people do find out about stuff from it. But..............................................................................................

I don't like MTB ebay & marketplace watch

This takes all the fun out of looking for local bargains on ebay. I've seen several bikes that have taken my eye, local and collect only, only to find that they've been highlighted on that forum and the bidding shoots up. This may be a coincidence and I'm being selfish and irrational I know...

    I found Aladdin's Cave

Am I the only one with some concerns about this thread. If the bikes were given in good faith and the donors thought they were giving to charity then surely the administrators have a responsibility to get the best prices for them. What charity(s) does the money go to? How is this scheme...

Marin Team Issue '92 Renovation - Help

+1 for the black 8) Should look fine, with the advantage that the areas on the drawing should be easy and cheap to do with a spray can, and if you don't like it it'll be easy to strip Show pics when it's finished
