Whats selling like now on ebay ?.

See thats what I dont know. I'd heard that it would say you'd been paid, but the reality was you werent really. Of course i havent been able to check that out so thats part of the not knowing the current score with them.

Beyond the first transaction, which did take a few days - I've always been paid within a day or so of the transaction happening on eBay. Biggest hassle is setting up your bank account with them. That did take a couple of attempts and a couple of weeks for me.

Just be careful with bidders with 0 or very low feedback, and always send items to be signed for and charge the appropriate postage for it. There is no negative feedback for buyers anymore, and if a buyer insists they never got the item they can appeal and ebay will always take the buyer's side even if they are a rip-off artist. Sending things to be signed for at least provides a bit of protection from that.

This. After the initial sale under the new system, all the payments I've received have typically been made within 1-2days (eBay quote 0-4 days).
Not sure what happens if there is a dispute. I have made a partial refund to one person and it was straight forward, with ebay authorised to take the payment from my account much like a debit card purchase.

Sadly ebay is the necessary evil to give you that larger audience. I wish I could rely on RB for all sales, but unfortunately not!

I might have actually done that already - beyond the paypal/bank account with the previous incarnation of ebay. I remember there was something about them forcing members to set up some sort of account, and implied you had little choice or wave your account goodbye. So I might have done that then, i forget, it was a few years back.

No need to worry about that, i learned my lesson early, and of the parcels sent ebay, here every single one is sent RM recorded(signed for). And on my ebay preferences anyone below 4(i cant remember what the actual figure is) or with any strikes is automatically prevented from buying.

At the beginning i sent a couple of items non recorded and low and behold they disappeared, and i had to refund. Between here and ebay i must have sent over a thousand parcels, each one 1st or2nd class recorded and all but one got to their destination without issue, the one that didnt was returned to me via RM returns procedure. I've only ever sent 2 items non recorded and both vanished, so i know that lesson well and its not one ill ever repeat.

Oh yeah, anyone messages me on ebay and gets even the slightest bit stroppy over something im selling, gets put straight into my 'blocked buyers' bin. I reckon if they're stroppy and havent bought anything, chances are it will end in tears if they do buy something.

Exact same experience here when I first got on ebay, a few items were "never delivered" and I got ripped off. I think just by indicating in the listing that you're sending it recorded, the scammers see it and don't bother and find another easier victim in another auction.

Also probably doesn't need saying but another popular scam on Ebay for bigger or expensive items is paying with Paypal then collecting in person and then claiming they never received it so getting the Paypal refunded (or the Paypal account was hacked) so you're out of pocket the money and the item. I always do cash on collection or bank transfer on the spot if someone has bought and is collecting something from me, never any payment in advance even if they say they will show up with ID or whatever.

All good info, thanks!
I've been planning to sell a few things on eBay, but it's been years since I've been a seller, so I'm signing on to keep up with what's current.

Tbh..im finding ebay less and less attractive.....i buy far less from their sellers and i would rather sell on here for 10% less.

Ive not sold on ebay since they decided to cut out paypal....im just not comfortable with them being judge, jury and executioner......

I had over 1500 transaction prior to our split... i dont miss the idiots either when selling!

This is pretty similar to my feelings. I did give in and sign their new user agreement, on the basis of an offer on three listings - which when I then tried to take up only worked for the first listing. I think I've removed my bank details, so I can't sell there at the moment. I'd rather sell here and for bigger things or things that need a wider market I'll just make sure I get to a jumble at some point soon.
