yeah that is a valid point and no-one is saying Keith can't/couldn't sell the parts, especially not me!

There has been lots of discussions around this subject with no real conclusion as far as I can make out. I was only proffering my view (others I'm sure will disagree), I was not however quoting any "for sale" rules.

To be frank it's your bike now so do what you want with it, those that want the parts will buy and those that don't like the idea can show their disapproval by not buying. You were in the right place at the right time with a local pick up, the rest of the bike wasn't up to scrtch and you want to recoup your cash, now if you are willing to split and post them you have a wider audience and so can charge more than the original seller-spliting a bike and packaging it up doesn't come for free!

I say let the first two who posted interest in wheels and crank have them at your original price and then do the karma thing with the remains, if people are willing to collect!

This site usually operates as a "free market", within which seller and potential buyer are free to agree price and terms.

Or is this the "Sozialist Republik of Retrobike", where such rules are suspended and markets controlled?

Keith bought a whole bike, stripped it and was re-selling the parts...
Dirty, time-consuming work: Trade-off = he (hopefully) makes some cash for his effort.

Anyone else COULD have done the same, IF they were prepared to take the risk and make the effort.
And they often DO.
Lots of parts (and whole bikes) get re-sold between established users on here.
Same thing.

If you don't like the asking price, make an offer or STFU!
Retrobike is USUALLY very chilled, with very few forum rules; Let's keep it that way.
