Pretty sure the steerer won't be long enough, even at 196mm. Plus technically, it's a year earlier

How much do you want to spend on the mech THM? There are a few top pull 28.6mm STX's on ebay, all under £15.

Yep steerer too short on the P2s

Have bought an LX tp mech for £13. I have a matching rear and stx cranks with a black ring or LX cranks in black with silver rings.......? Should have an old BB to suit.

Also in negotiations for another set of P2s but not sure if i/he wants another rigid as he's got an 88 LE saracen in 22" as his pub bike. I want him to enjoy his first mayhem not be scarred and scared for life.

Defo go with some front suss, for exactly the reason you've stated. You want him to enjoy it!

Just checking the 'bay, none of the Bombers are any good (too short steerer) or wrong QR.

Forgive the iphone pic. I think that's everything bar the incoming front mech. Forks need a coat of something mat and black and out of a can.
