Concorde Gavina SL - restoration finished!

many thanks (Gavr, it will be interesting to see how the paint job holds up- fingers crossed!)

So time to start building. Having collected parts over the last year I am ready to get going! Call me sad, but I love the engineering of the late 80's generation campag kit..

Re:

A bit of a leap forward - but she is now finished, and I am rather chuffed with results. Now all I have to do is get out and ride...

Thanks to everyone who read this thread.

I would love to see some photos of other retroriders PDM Concordes.

Here is mine..

Re:

:D have just re read it, looks like I did the build in 6 minutes! I think the better half had wished I had been that efficient seeing as she has been living amongst bike bits for the last couple of months.

Re:

Great job - looks really smashing. I don't have a Concorde (yet) but here's my Tommasini CdA build.

How did the gears setup? I find the first shift pulls a lot of cable meaning I have to keep everything pretty tight in order to get the final shift. I think I might try mine soon with simplex retrofrictions but I do like the look of those campag shifters...

Tremendous result, great looking bike. Just hope the paintwork lasts. Nice group-set that, especially when it's as mint condition as yours.

Re:

thanks everyone.

Gav, I haven't taken her for a proper ride yet, but have the same experience as you, I thought I had adjusted gears wrong. seems to be a sweet shift when working 'with' the spring loading of the derailleur i.e going to a higher gear, quite stiff when working against it, hardest to get into bottom gear. I think it might need some further fettling.

Hi oonaff, tyres are Vittoria Rally tubs 23mm.

As for the paint longevity, I will let you all know how it goes - it has been lacquered but certainly not as tough as a pro paint job- it certainly isn't a paint finish that I would be confident to throw in the bike rack at our local station but for some sunday pottering will hopefully be ok :D

CdA came standard with the Doppler retrofriction shifters. I wonder if these pull a tad more cable overall than the plain vanilla...
