There are some very heartfelt responses to this post. That in itself is testament to the nature of this forum.
The sub-45 age group are more likely than ever to be single these days. And the greater the concentration of young people the higher the singles rate. London, for instance, has the highest concentration of young people and the highest level of single people. The question is whether the breakup of traditional social circles, such as family and local geography, for career or social aspirations has lead to this situation. One thing to note is that the sub-45 age group are also the highest users of anti-depressants so it's up in the air whether the modern free world of choice and self-determination is in fact any better than the connected close-knit old world.
Personally I think that anybody who enjoys grubby old bikes will never be lonely.

Interestingly, there are some out there who have it that all this (above described) western socio-cultural degradation that we are living though in these 'modern' times has been intentionally engineered ... something about the 'New World Order' wanting to dismantle the old culture by destroying most of it's moral codes, (divide and conquer), to then build up a new one which is subservient to all of their whims and desires.

Incidentally - to all you Euros and Brits ... the conspiracy theorists also hold that the current massive migrant influx that your lands/cultures are seeing is a part of the same plan/movement.

being 'needy' isn't the same as being 'close', not by a long-shot
Ok. But what is "needy" because I can't work it out.

Needy people are energy vampires that eventually suck all of life's verve and joy out of you, in order to try to fill the voids in their own dark spaces.

I'm forty-something, and I quite like who I am, and there's no way I'm changing now so if you don't like what you see, it's too bad. I just don't see how anyone could stand a chance with me now, anyone new coming into my life has to have a bloody good reason to be there!

Um - maybe because they have some really nice bikes ... :xmas-big-grin:

Hmmm, that could swing it, but then again I'd only be after him for his bikes, not his body.....

Off topic alert ! They say History repeats, it does but nobody in power ever seems to understand that the fundamental nature of humans and their altruistic agendas will never change. The larger the altruistic group, the more they will try to suppress and dominate other groups. Combined with natural climate change, these have been the main reason for the rise and fall of various civilisations and wars. Right now we are in the midst of a growing movement for religious conservatism, as there was in the 17century.

We are all fuxxed, so get out and ride while you still can !

I read somewhere that humanity is currently going through a bit of a bottle neck. If we survive its going to be a whole lot nicer on the other side.

Still doesnt mean I get laid though. Dammit.

I'm quite sanguine about all of it, but then, I've just started on the cider.....

Maybe I've opened a can of worms here, was just casually asking if anyone else was single and happy, next thing I know the end of the world is nigh.....
