As a result of a post on another forum, I was reacquainted with this excellent short story, "Felony Flight" by Bill Ketzer. I might've tried to sneak it into the main forum (it features a 1987 Stumpjumper after all) but perhaps it's more at home here:

The guy can really write.

I'm sure plenty of you will have come across the bikereader site already. It's not all of quite this standard, but there's plenty there to dip into, and quite a few gems to rediscover.

That was absolute literary gold mate and (I never thought that americans could write anything not deeply irritating or sarcastic or at the very least plagiarized as they mostly mistrust intelligence but absolute quality and I stand corrected )
