1994 brodie badass

I was toying with the idea of a shorter (non sus corrected) fork too! So much so that I messaged Paul to ask his thoughts and how this would affect the geometry/ handling.

Well to start with I am not so sure he is so flattered to know so many retro builders are fitting P2 forks on his frames after all he went through with K.

But then again I don’t know of better affordable alternatives. Perhaps a Gleiss fork would do the job too but they are almost as rare as Gatorblades.

Anyhow, if you think that with the sus corrected P2 the seat tube angle is around 74 degrees a non sus corrected fork will bring it to 75 or even 76 degrees. You will end up with lower BB clearance too but having it as single speed it will just rip like there is no tomorrow! It will be super fast. Personally I love steep seat tube angles!

I always look at the BB drop when i think fork length. If there isnt any bb drop i will try a shorter fork.
MTB Action test of the Expresso says an important feature of every canadian frame is a bb hight of 12 inches.
I think this feature is great, as there are some nasty steps and stones lurking on my home trails that I like to get stuck on.
Also, some clowns like to lay logs across the trails, which are easier to get over with a bit more ground clearance. I'll take some measurements, but I don't want to get any lower than 12 inches. Also because of tradition 😁

They are usually hikers angry at MTBers who speed or don’t make way for them. I just want a Grove Woods bike to make a point to them…or a tall bike.
