I've just picked up this Peugeot, mainly for the Shimano 600 Tricolor groupset that I was going to use on one of my other bikes.
From the sellers advert I'd tried, and failed, to ID the bike, mainly due to the colour and decals used, even Google left me clueless.
When I went to collect it I was pleasantly surprised to see Reynolds 753 decals on the frame & Fork, so a deal was done.
Now I have the bike at home I can see it has a "Refurbished by Bob Jackson Cycles, Leeds" sticker, which explains the colour & decals I guess. I've had a couple of frames refurbished by Bob Jackson's myself in the past.

The frame number looks to be Y1192604.
Would this make it a 1981 frame? (Y1...).

Browsing a few threads on here has me thinking it might be a Perthus/Perthus Pro, if it is indeed made from 753 tubing.

I've attached a few photos of parts of the frame, and it does have a chain "pip"/ holder on the seatstay.

Any help ID'ing the frame would be great, I fear it's probably too small for me, but then I bought it with the 600 groupset in mind...

It's a 91 frame and not 753 , more likely 531 main tubes only . Cost cutting was the order of the day at this time ( as with other major European cycle brands facing competition from the far east) , gone were the simplex dropouts , Sloping lion pantographed fork crowns and any chrome plating that were features of the high end PX / PY Reynolds frames through the 80's.

To my best knowledge the 753 chorus wasn't sold in the UK and had the part chrome rear stays. In 91 Peugeot were using reynolds 708 for the UK market ( rifled frame tubes similar to columbus slx ) as the top spec lugged steel frames. Cycles Peugeot UK only offered what they thought would sell in the UK and High end bikes had to be heavily discounted in the late 80's onwards. In the early 90's Peugeot were using up their stocks of 531 tubing and winding down steel frame production as aluminium became more popular , at this time they put out quite a few models with 531 main triangle only. As for the decal who is to say Jacksons put it on.
If anyone can find a UK '91 model with 753 tubing then I will be happy to have learned something but I don't think you will.

Yes but the original posters bike is 1991 which I maintain Peugeot weren't selling 753 frames / bikes in 1991 and yes the last 753 bikes marketed by Peugeot in the UK had Shimano 600 not campag groupsets. Campag equipped models were designated with a PZ model code and predominately in the US. The last campag equipped Peugeot UK steel bike had a 653 Frame. You can believe what you want but show me a 1991 UK brochure / catalogue or review with a 753 frame and I'll withdraw in shame but I don't believe you can.
