1991 Peugeot Black Mamba build thread

The stem on there I fabricated, it's a 22.2mm quill but with a 31.8mm clamp so I can use more modern bars. This is it pre coating, it's now been Cerakoted black.

Here it is mid finishing. I used to have access to a framebuilder's workshop and a framebuilder colleague so I can only take partial credit for it! I liked the geometry of the original 3T stem so I matched it but wanted modern bars so replicated with a 31.8mm clamp. I also made it prettier by fillet brazing it all. Stock is chromoly.

After a few months of collecting parts for this (and other bikes) I got round to fitting Shimano M786 XT clutch 10sp derailleur with hanger extender, Airbike 11-50T cassette, Wolf Tooth 40t chainring and bolts, WTB Dual Duty wheelset, Schwalbe Marathon Plus 1.75 tyres, Shimano M739 XT V Brakes with new Clarks dual compound 70mm pads and levers, Deore 10sp shifter and Wellgo ball bearing flat Alu pedals

I'm settled on this being the final version, so the original 7sp Mavic 36h wheelset and Deore LX kit will go on a future frame no doubt.

I have a gloss black (to match the stem finish) seatpost, and a choice of light blue or black lock on grips arriving next week, and I'm ordering a Charge Spoon Teal saddle which is going to look amazing given it's a perfect match for the frame teal colour.

Looking good! Out of interest, were you able to confirm this model is from 1991? I've never been able to find a Peugeot catalogue from 1991 to confirm, but I believe it's a 91....

Thanks...It's changed again... wildly different tyres which will no doubt be marmite to people. Pics to follow when I add the inbound gloss black seatpost and Charge Spoon Teal saddle.

I'm not sure 100% it's '91, either that or '90. The only references I can find by googling are mentions about someone recalling they bought one in '90, and a couple of Flikr pics of an almost identical spec and paint scheme Python model saying '91. No catalogue confirmation.

I'll double check the serial number to see if it gives any clues as sometimes they do.
