I conclude that i havent a scoobie as to whats going on
furthermore i have concluded that i dont really care
What i do care about is this site and no other
Here people are nice
Completely agree. I'm used to message boards like Discoweb and Pirate4x4, and I've sworn them off since finding Retrobike. I do think there are certainly different ways that Americans and Euros address their board participation. It used to drive me nuts that all banter on Discoweb always led to the flexing of 'monitor muscles'. Life is too short. I still love my Land Rover, but the 4x4 culture here in the states is psychotic.
I have to remind myself that I'm not on one of those other sites anymore, when I'm logged in to Retrobike. I catch myslef typing something very sarcastic and biting, and I see the need to boil off some aggression before I post it here. Not that I want to turn this thread into a hug-fest, or divert it from it's Rumpfy-in-a-Black-Cloak direction, but John and the mods have done a great job molding the mood here in the hallowed halls of Retrobike, and I wouldn't change a thing. As a registered 'guest' using this site, I owe it to the mods to not act like a complete jerk to other registered members. I probably owe it to my parents too, but that's another story!
I don't understand why people think they can say anything they want to each other, all under the excuse that "Hey, he posted a picture of that POS, so I'm within my rights to rip him a new corn-hole. I mean, are you really within your rights to ever do that? No matter what he posts? Amybrooke mentioned that the quality of the biked here on RB represented something of a lesser quality than that which is posted on VRC, and I think that's a pretty unfair statement. They are different, but 'less' is a term representing a value that I think isn't in his right to assign.
Someone else said earlier, that the mods set the tone, and then reap what they sow. There's some truth there. If a board is based on cutting each other to pieces, even in sarcasm and humor, then is it any wonder that somebody takes the next step and decides that everybody is against them? I don't think Rumpfy or and of the fellas at VRC are doing anything nutty, and the whole price fixing thing is pretty funny, as an allegation. But I can understand why somebody who just hops in over there would think that they are firmly on the outside looking in. I do.
If I posted my Beast of the East or my EWRs on VRC, I'd be shredded. And that's a real shame.
