It's not nice that we've had to resort to possible privatisation of our forests, etc, but I wonder where we'd be if them last lot of berks were voted back in, last May....

I'm a little confused by all this.

Does the selling of the forests mean they are automatically all going to be cut down and destroyed?

Has anyone come forward as a potential buyer saying this is what they will do?

Don't get me wrong, I love the forests and seeing them being destroyed would be heart breaking, but is there any evidence this will happen?

Surely planning applications would still have to be sought for any development or change of use?

It is unlikely they'll be destroyed.. privatisation doesn't equal development.

We looked into buying woodland a few years back and the reason it was so cheap (comparatively) was that its use couldn't be changed.. any development, even a small dwelling, was a definite non-starter.
