This is very bad news

Why waste energy fighting for what will be the inevitable.

If it doesn't go through, will there be posts (from you) admitting you were wrong?

I get that things aren't exactly rosey.. but ghost writing for Marvin the Paranoid Android is jumping the gun a tad?

I'm a little confused by all this.

Does the selling of the forests mean they are automatically all going to be cut down and destroyed?

Has anyone come forward as a potential buyer saying this is what they will do?

Don't get me wrong, I love the forests and seeing them being destroyed would be heart breaking, but is there any evidence this will happen?

Surely planning applications would still have to be sought for any development or change of use?

....erm.....who caused all the bloody problems in the first place........

and who sold all the gold for jack shit......erm......

and who chucked millions into unnecesary wars.......erm...

and who is now getting his butt kicked in court for said wars.....erm....

who sold our steel industries to an indian business man who has now shut them down....erm.......

who has been handing out millions of pounds to single mothers essentially to repopulate a nation.......erm......

I could go on

I have signed the petition so dont think I dont believe this is wrong because I do but it is getting tedious listening to socialists whining

of course the other side of the coin is if they dont get sold the government may sell the timber instead and then it will be a lot worse....

public ownership is not always bad.......mostly yes....if the railways are anything to go by but not always.....

both major parties if you look back in history.

time for a new type of politics, one run for the people by the people, not run for bussiness men on hand outs weve been made to hand over.

anyway, enough of the political rights and wrongs, its not good cos most private owners would stop you using the forests etc,its happened round our way lots of late and really screws up the local way of life, ever tried riding through a posh golf course? they dont take very kindly

Most riding I do is on bridleways etc anyway and they wont be affected.....

agree about all partys causing problems but I am only concerned with what has happened in my lifetime, that is the only thing i could have had an effect on..........

time for a new type of politics,

Ahh i'm glad your behind me for when i am benevolent dictator.. :D

it's worry and sad really.

theoretically if all the land for sale was sold off forests and greenfield sites would need planning permission.

It is however ultimately sad that each successive government - no matte which party is hell bent on selling every darn thing in the house/cupboard for quick revenue.
