I have had a couple of E-bikes but so far been unimpressed The reason is that most off the peg E-bikes are so heavy that you are forced to use assistance most of the time, unassisted they are horrible to ride, so it doesnt feel like cycling. Next I bought a fancy Specialized Creo road E-bike and I thought that was rubbish too, firstly it was outrageously expensive, it wasnt DIY repairable, the battery was integrated in the frame and very small capacity, parts are very expensive and they change the design on a whim so who knows if they will be repairable in say 5 years, that is now sold. I bought a 360GDP YOSE POWER conversion kit and converted my old Raleigh Pioneer Venture and its just great. The kit probably adds about 6Kg to the weight but it rides unassisted exactly the same, no perceptable drag from the hub motor and its loads of fun, so if you are curious about an E-bike, just convert something you already have, all the parts are standard, bottom bracket the same, generic Hailong battery, standard cadence sensor and rim brakes are well up to the job (swapped the cantis for V brakes)
