Stolen Zaskar

My son suffered a break in at his house in Gloucester today. Amongst the stuff stolen was his Zaskar. He had bought it as a teenager, spending inordinate amounts of money on it and kept it into adulthood.

A couple of years ago when I got interested in retrobikes he sent it in my direction to refurbish- it was my very first project that I displayed on readers bikes with great fear and trepidation!

Distinguishing features? It has good wheels - red shiny Hope hubs on citrus rims. I had made a chainstay protector by binding inner tube strips around the tube. Photo attached although it had a different saddle and pedals when stolen.

If anyone claps eyes on this machine please let me know - it's got sentimental value for my son and I spent a good few hours on it as well!

Thanks

Carol

Hope you find it....I've had that sickening feeling myself.

Look out in local cash converters/generators too, classifieds in mags etc.

Barstards

Will keep me eye out ... Not many Zaskars get shifted in our area without me noticing!!

 **expletive deleted**

Don't suppose you know the frame number do you?

How've the Police reacted? As it was a burglery, they should send someone round to check for prints etc. If they haven't, push until they do.

Thanks Guys - Adam, my son is pretty gutted. The insurance company asked if he had a credit card statement for it - he was 14 when he bought it but they need proof that he owned it! Sadly he doesn't have the frame number

He has downloaded my original post on readers bikes in 2008 which has my description of the kit on the bike and the story behind it - so we will see if they accept that. .

As Adam said tonight " Mummy's strange habits have their uses!"

For the insurance, he should only have to prove he owned it, and be able to determine a reasonable value.
The proof you have should be sufficient. It would not be reasonable to expect for proof of purchase after a long time. To a degree depends on both the insurer - some are more annoying than others, and the person dealing with the claim - you are in the hands of an individual, some are reasonable, some are not.
If they don't accept it, take it further.
PM me if you need any assistance or advice.

Hi Carol, i will go out of my way to find this bike, to be honest some poor teenager will have handed over £20 of his paper round money to some other teenage druggie and probably will never actualy get sold, but if it ends up on ebay we WILL find it for you
