Signatures - Reminder

I'll could also in future try to reduce the size of the ride ad banners for macretro, but they do work - the attendance on all our rides has risen significantly since using them.

I don't think there is any issue with ride banners. They are there to add value to the site and are completely relevant and complementary.

As long as they don't exceed 600px X 100px then it's all fine.

Larger images can really screw up the forum layout, sometimes making it very difficult to read threads, and overlong signatures can cause excessive scrolling repetitive strain injuries and plain confusion.

OK, it was me who had the long signature [immediately deleted]. Apart from a life long interest in bikes, part of the reason I am on this site most nights is for me to improve my computer skills and I had no idea of the problems it might be causing others. Sorry to all of you, I should have read the instructions.
But the way I was told.....
My initial response would have probably gotten me locked.
This is the best site I know and I do hope it returns to the positive friendly site that keeps me coming back night after night.

To be honest does anyone other that the owner of the sig give a shite what bikes you used to own? Does anyone really want to read quotes (I've even seen people quoting some unintelligible crap that they wrote themselves), should we really have political views forced down our throats, do we need to know that someone is the leader of the Northsouth Bumbleshire riders group when there is an entire forum dedicated to riders groups that lists all the leaders?
As for photos, it's just self indulgent nonsense. If you're that precious about people seeing your bikes then set up a gallery. People who care will click through.

We already have buttons down the bottom for gallery, website, profile, feedback. We have badges up the side for riders, potm, botm, and so on. Have avatars, we have post counts. What more do people want?

Just ban signatures and make this place easier on the eye and my download limit.

*Edited- my high horse was giving me vertigo*
I think we need a pete_mcc appreciation thread. Every forum needs a curmudgeon, and he's become the almost Tyler-Durden-esque voice of brutal honesty, that perhaps we all need.

...and in case you think I'm being sarky, I'm not - that's from the heart, man...
