That is caused by the avatars, it happens to anyone who posts less than the depth of their avatar as text, if you get what I mean

I was hoping he might suggest that so I could say I was referring to another space entirely.

MM, you could use all the empty space to place your sig on one line, that would be neater.

To add something on topic, I think pete_mcc is totally wrong about lists of bikes owned past and present.

It is a quick way to get an idea of what kind of riding a poster does/has done.

It helps you evaluate their input about a particular bike if they have had half a dozen of them, without them having to state where they are coming from.

This is what the internet is all about, and it will be a miserable online world were we all to limit ourselves graphically and otherwise for the sakes of the mobile users.

That would be akin to suggesting we don't include content that does not flow on 56k connections on our sites back in the early broadband days...

I was meaning that MM could have five lines of text at the full width, thus putting a lot more information there.

I appreciate the helpful nature of your reply Andy. But I am an IT Guru amongst other amazing skills, so I am of course aware of everything before it even happens.

It saddens me to see someone helpful being maligned as I feel one or two here have been most unfairly in this and other threads.

I know what you are saying BUT I can't help thinking that (along with post count), bike ownership does not equal bike knowledge ... :?

My thoughts actually stem from comments I read on a car forum by a 'well respected' / high post count member spouting complete sh1t about battery technology whilst advising another member - who was I to argue with such a knowledgeable guy ? :?

Well if for example I was thinking about an 856, and posted a thread discussing my inclination, and amongst all the replies about them there was one from you saying it can be hard getting the elastomers. I would see you were working on one, I might then ask if you needed new elastomers and, if so, where did you source them if you have done. There might be a half dozen replies mentioning the elastomers, and given all else being equal, without knowing anything about the posters, I would begin by asking the one who had dealt or is dealing with the same machine.

Just a primitive kind of pointer to who might be worth asking before anything else, I would not make any assumptions about abilities as a mech. without further evidence than a list of bikes!

(Though in your case I already see you are meticulous in what you do. )
