IQ what does it mean ?

The intelligence quotient exactly what is it's purpose ?

Anyone done it ?

Unfortunately I have via AS testing and received a score of 134 but it means nothing as here I languish with debilitating anxiety and depression oh and unemployed on benefits, a scrounger whom the UK hates via the press and feckless parliamentarians


( Oh yeah and I remember when I did the testing I was hung over from heavy private drinking, something I do when highly stressed so what I did didn't make much sense to me, but I remember at the time I was at my wit's end with stuff, mainly college, but stuff in general)

I understand the testing revealed I am intelligent, but what does it mean, seems pretty useless to me and pretty much an insult in a way as given intelligence one would think those with intelligence should be doing well, but in my case evidently not.

So what's the use ?

I had this thought just yesterday and then thought you cant really measure it as it varies for people.

Ah facebook, I saw that on there and it is correct for very many people, but shows one thing, life is unfair and those that control it don't care, one either excels or they don't.

But that is the IQ system, everyone at the base of the tree can have varying levels of intelligence, but they are nothing if they can't climb the tree, though in my mind it is cut the bloody thing down and give more people a chance.

Yes carry people until the time comes their particular skill outweighs everything others can do.

It is my controversial opinion that many of those that fail in society and go on to crime drugs and other forms of self destruction are because we don't have intelligence running the testing of peoples intelligence.

Interesting. Promote the unworthy against all principles of natural selection. That's why society is stagnating.

Those not so blessed should certainly not be penalised and punished, but there is no reason why they should be given the same advantages that the more capable among us have to earn.

Some people are brighter and more capable than others. That's life, it ain't always fair. Get over it.

it probley means your over qualified, some of the most intelligent people i know go from job to job or are long time unemployed. the others tend to stick to what they are good at or know best. employers tend to look for the ability to do the job nothing more and nothing less.

That is a completely unrealistic scenario upon which to base any form of test..... Not only do elephants ond seals not co-exist geographically, you'd never get them all to line up patietly in the first place

Life is unfair, but we all just have to get on with it and try and grow/learn/develop/improve etc in whatever way we can. Some people get this, others dont

You say that but wont the monkey just climb the tree and throw crap at the others? And thus your hierarchy is achieved.

Your right, say you get all the questions that you know the answers too and the next time you know none and even guess wrong. That could be a 100% difference.

I suppose it doesnt really hold much bearing, more of an indication but even then its not all that accurate it would seem.
