That's a bit far... there's a significant difference between there being lax processes on his watch, and alledgedly active law breaking to try and dig.
The means was different but the end the same. And it happened on his watch repeatedly, like the NOTW.
(shrug) incompetence of those he's ultimately responsible for, is no good thing. But doesn't offend my morals as much as deliberate, subverted, dubious activities.

I don't get ho they're being hypocritical?
Brown for the arselicking and volte face.
And a politician that's been at that level who hasn't?

And Coogan and Grant for being law breakers themselves now revelling in someone else being caught out for wrongdoing.
That's not how I saw it. The interview I saw involving Coogan, Dyke and McMullen, Coogan's perspective seemed to be there was no justification for the alledged law breaking involved in it - and rejecting the journos position about simple "freedom of the press".

Two who use the media for their own ends and cry foul when it suits. Sanctimonious may be a better description in their cases.
I'm not getting that. At least where Coogan was concerned, I watched the interview - Coogan made fair points, the journo just seemed to attempt a bit of handwaving and mithering about "freedom of the press". His comments never actually seemed to show any true cognition or mitigation for what has been claimed.
He merely looked desperate in trying to slight Coogan with some ad hominem things, which looked decidedly desperate and quite contextless.

Seems like I'm one of the few who genuinely couldn't give a f**k what the NOTW did. Dowler and the like apart,
That's the thing, though - it's the depths and measures they went to.
Perhaps if they hadn't gone to the depths of depravity they had, it may have been more easily hand-waved away.

I've absolutely no time for the affronted celebrities or politicians.
In general, I largely agree.
That said, I can't see any public interest into the digging into Brown's child.
And I can't for the life of me see a place in journalism for the claimed methods they used.
That truly was abhorrent, and it's no suprise that Murdoch sees the NOTW brand as damaged goods.
