Hello chaps :D

As some of you may know I have recently moved to Fettercairn in Aberdeenshire

It appears I have this on my doorstep.......

Now, I'm not suggesting the organised route/race - that link is just for info. However I was up there today (in car) and its stunningly pretty at this time of year - autumn leaves etc, if a trifle chilly. Actually it was fekkin cold.

I think a nice route for next summer may be from Fettercairn over the CoM to Banchory on the banks of the Dee, spot of lunch and then back again. Its not far, only 36 miles there and back combined, but with a few nice hills

I've done Applecross and don't think this looks as severe, but it is sustained at both sides :D

If anyone fancies it at some point (not winter please as the snow gates look ominously purposeful and necessary) then I should be able to offer B&B facilities (well in reality more a kind of F&B, the F being for floor, bring a sleeping bag)

I'll try get some photos in the coming weeks, and yes I know its nearly December :xmas-cool:

Roadie Rob

the third one is general info on the CoM rather than cycling stuff - however I'll have a recce at some point - there's a load of mountain bike trails shown on OS map :D

That looks a nice route

Nowhere near Beallach hard. Done it both ways a number of times. South side demoralising as you can see the top from most of the way up. North side plagued by false summits and goes on and on. Amazing descents both ways. Summit view is awesome.

Mr P, a nice loop is over to Banchory then Auchenblae then back via Drumtochty Glen.
For a MTB event look up the Drumtochty challenge, I think it'll be your cup of tea.

If you're up for joining the East Coast massive, Clubbytrails 3.0 on the 24th is less than an hour from you down in Carnoustie.

I'm up for most things really and as a WESTCOASTER I know F all aboot this place, ken.

Many summers spent in Dundee at Relly's houses but other than that know little about this place. Ahm explorin and ahm sure it will end in tears

Do they not play at the golf in Carnoustie? sure now and I think I have cousins there

You're in a great place for exploring.
Glen Esk is you're easiest way into big terrain. Great loops starting at Tarfside. Head slightly inland and you've got Clova. Possible to do Esk to Clova in a dry spell but trails hard to follow. North of you, Banchory, Ballater, Glen Tanar. Firthmount and Mount Keen link into a big day out.

Just seen this. The COM has long been on my way between home in Edinburgh and home in Deeside - it is by far my favourite driving road, got my wee 1.2 clio airbourne on it many years ago! Never managed to cycle it but there are more bikes on it now than I've ever seen before.
