Outstanding............any chance of producing a RetroBIKE line of Clubs and Cudgels??? :P

:D Now that is tempting
Something hard enough to dent car doors.but light enough not to be noticed on the bike weight :?

I picked up the rest of the stuff ,3 extra turning tools, expensive ones too.the extractor, that looks like its only seen a couple of bag emptying's :D
a sash cramp[always needed] and a rather expensive record pipe vice that retails on ebay for £160-£180,it looks brand new as well
Total spent
£85 for over a grands worth
The chap said his phone was ringing off the hook all morning, seems lots of people saw the same ad
He knew its worth and wanted rid of,i reckon he'd have given it to charity if it hadnt sold,i didnt mess him about by telling lies about not knowing what it is.Bloody bargain and we both knew it

Did his wife tell him to 'get rid of that bl--dy thing' or was it a Karma-esque transaction?

Either way he deserves a pat on the back for letting it go so cheap.

Or you need to ask to see the receipt. (sorry for bumping an old thread)
You were desperate to say your bit, least i can do is answer :D

Yup,as legit as it could get.A retired dentist living in one of the nicer more expensive areas of Glasgow, moving to a smaller house[i think he said it was a small flat he was moving to]
A bit of a shame really. He must have been desperate to get rid of it,
I think it must have been quite wrenching

That is a bargain
Have the same lathe at work with a different stand. Use it to turn slightly
tapered pegs for our green oak frames to lock our mortice and tennon joints. I made a jig up that uses a router that passes over the initial 300mm by 25by25 seasoned oak piece clamped in the said lathe . The router puts a 3mm taper on the peg.
One of the apprentices can churn these out at 30 an hour.
That lathe has certainly done some work.

Dont tell me sash clamp was a record one aswell

Get the draw knife out, thats the proper way to make pegs

I now have 3 lathes now  ,that being the biggest.
I really need to sell it [for a serious bit of profit] ,use that to fund something roadie.
The sash cramp is just on of the £10 cheapies, but it matches one i already have 8) [cramps are best if you have even pairs of them]

You can make up a jig for the spindle moulder.using a curved cutter[cuts a D shape
You surround the whole thing in a close fitting shaw box
Rotate the square as it goes through to get both sides.
Ive heard of a router jig where you have a square infeed and a round outfeed .the router sits in the middle[with the cutter buried].You spin the baton on the end of a drill as you push it through#
Square goes in-round comes out
