TBH i wouldnt go for the amd X2 as the current range being phased out soon as it doesnt standup and anywhere near compete with the current Intel Core 2 range

dell can put a complete spanking new base unit with dual core cpu on your desk for 269.

Great for surfing the net and office based pc but not much else.

which is what 99.9% of people do. i very much doubt someone who's trying to upgrade an old PC is a hardcore gamer.

i used to be of the must-have-best-hardware school of thought, until i actually started working in IT, and came to realise that stuff 2, and even 3 years behind the curve is more than adequate for most use. a girl i know still has the PC i built for myself in 2001, and it's more than quick enough for her needs.

See this is the thing with the whole AMD versus Intel, never sure which to get. I looked at reviews and a lot if them suggested that the AMD ones at the price I am looking at were better than the intel ones but never know what to beleive. The fan is a good point though I'd forgotten about that bit lol, which obviously wouldn't be good.

the performance difference really doesnt make any difference for most people. it's not like the old days when AMD chips were unreliable tat.

not sure what the benefits of crossfire are though and if you have to have anything special with it as seen crossfire psu's and memory, so wasnt sure if you can use normal memory and psu's or you had to use crossfire specific ones, but looked like a good motherboard.

Customer service crap

in my experience computers and laptops never come with all the parts expected

i.e
a lecturer who works at same place as me bought a laptop they failed to fit the correct drive and sent it in the post for him to fit himself. having no hardware experience he panicked and i offered to do for him.

A customer of mine who also got a dell laptop that was suppose to have a internal wifi card fitted got laptop minus card and they send out a desktop modem to him

just 2 of a list of reasons i dont like them
