1991 Alpinestars Ti-Mega Build ***Final Pictures Page 14 ***

Re: 1991 Alpinestars Ti-Mega Build ***Pictures Page 8 ***

Ok, so not to be pedantic, but I will...

Technically the M734 brakes you're running should not use that dual position straddle cable. In 91 Shimano switched to a single position with an oval tab ahead of the end piece which you can use to disengage the brakes. They came in several lengths so you could adjust for the various rim widths on the market. Longer for front and shorter for rear. So, you are running the straddle cables for M732 and older brakes. Fine and all that, but technically not correct application and you have them reversed.

I appreciate the attention to the details and the heads up! That's the info I wanted to know. If you take the build this far you might as well go all the way to being period correct on every detail. That is why we don't have the Ti Fork afterall.

Flipped around the rear cable guide and adjusted the hanger settings for the brakes.

Final round of photos unless you guys can find a flaw?!

Stunning bike, I used to lust after my neighbours Al-mega DX, I think I would have sold my teenage girlfriend to get my hands on this bike had I seen it at that age ;)

Rear derailleur cable housing is 2mm too long :D

Nice build all around.
