Ok, so not to be pedantic, but I will...
Technically the M734 brakes you're running should not use that dual position straddle cable. In 91 Shimano switched to a single position with an oval tab ahead of the end piece which you can use to disengage the brakes. They came in several lengths so you could adjust for the various rim widths on the market. Longer for front and shorter for rear. So, you are running the straddle cables for M732 and older brakes. Fine and all that, but technically not correct application and you have them reversed.
