Pro-Flex XP-X rebuild - worth starting?

It's a Kalahari - it is a nice frame, but I need the bits!

Ah! Katana was possibly an identical frame (and paint job) but came with the same abominable "suspension" "fork" that the Activator did.

Shame, it was a nice riding frame....

Quick Q regarding headsets - Headtube is 1 1/8" but found some 1" forks
Is it best (or possible) to;

  • Shim steerer up to 1 1/8" and fit 1 1/8" headset
  • Shim headtube down to 1" and fit 1" headset
  • Neither, keep looking for 1 1/8 forks

Many thanks

Re:

RockShocks are 1997 Model as they are TypeII 'spring' setup. That MCU (the foam elastomer) is shot and for the bin.
Pull them apart and see if the go!d stanchion part is good. If it is then it'll be worth saving or I'll take it for parts ;-)

Re:

I tried getting them apart, but no luck so far.
The stanchions are in pretty good nick, if you can tell me how to get 'em apart I'll take you some pics

Re:

Trust hammer time.

The bolts at the bottom... Unscrew then rescrew in a few threads.
Hit 'em hard with a hammer.

Should be obvious from there on.

Mine didn't come with any bolts - I take it something that'll fit up the hole in the lower leg will be ok as a drift?
