Lotus Sport Campagnolo (finished pg24) & XTR (finished pg29)

Re: Look for one Lotus Sport and two come along!

I have to say (just can’t stop myself) those old Campagnogo levers are the ugliest thing ever .... what were they thinking when they designed them !

If these are about as enigmatic as Pete Burns ..... are you saying Waves are in the same league as Jackie Stallone

Re: Look for one Lotus Sport and two come along!

Lol.... I must admit I’m quite happy to see the back of them.... when I fitted them to the bars a few months back they were so huge they almost clashed in the middle! And so ugly I deliberately photographed them at an angle hidden from view....

Anyway, just remember, someone loves them... and he’s a RB member....& if he hadn’t bought them I would not have been able to afford* the replacements.

*More like not allowed to replace them

Re: Look for one Lotus Sport and two come along!

Had a little change of direction with the XTR bike... I had thought the slightly warmer metal colour of the titanium bar and “titanium coloured” cr-mo stem might sit well with gold detailing but I was never all that convinced that it worked to be honest. :| So, I decided to swap them out with bright aluminium.

A zoom bar and a Kalloy UNO ultra light system stem combo ended up only a couple of grams heavier than the TI/Cr-mo combo. That got me thinking about the seat post clamp, I knew I’d seen an UNO one somewhere, then remembered one was on Jimmy’s Marin... could I pinch something from one my children? Of course I can.. ;) . a quick look on e-bay found me a ‘Marin 35mm clamp’ to replace it with.

Re: Look for one Lotus Sport and two come along!

The best tool I ever bought is my Cyclo British thread B.B. cutter. Just for a few quid over in the road section. It just works so well and makes the fitting of a B.B. a pleasure rather than a struggle. No fuss, no mess, no cross threading, no cracked powdercoat, just lovely ;)

Re: Look for one Lotus Sport and two come along!

Got myself a Selle Italia Turbo Special some time ago, the one with cracked style brown leather. It was surprisingly cheap due only to the fact that a lot of the red paint had come out of the debossed text. (Jet wash damage maybe?)
Anyway, this couldn’t have been a simpler job..

Yes I’ve got some proof hide knocking about around here somewhere...

Next job was the wheel set, nice pair of ARAYA RM-400’s on XTR M-900 hubs of course.. rim stickers are a little worse for wear and only got worse after clean up. Shout has gone out to Gil to see what he can do.

Lovely M900 8 speed cassette went on like a dream and just for now I’ve put on some old Panaracer Kevlar fire mud pros on as I wanted light and thin but I think they clash too much with the red.
