Closet Roadie

If you're going to ride mostly on the road, you might as well put some proper slick tyres on your MTBs. Here's some reasons :

- A set of new tyres (or even wheels) for your MTB is a lot less expensive than a complete road bike
- You still have the same comfortable riding position
- Rolling resistance is greatly reduced compared to offroad tyres, even though I must admit that it's not up to road bike standards
- an MTB with 1.75-2.5" slicks can be ridden a lot faster on bad cycle paths than a road bike
- you can still call yourself an MTBer, so no need to worry about that roadie stigma
- The bike will still cope well with light off-road use or road works

I did have slicks on my other mtb... and the road bike is so much faster its silly (hammering on the slicked yeti arc is about the same as cruising on the bike path) and I am finding for the long time sitting in the saddle on smooth bikeways that the road bike is more comfortable

although the brakes are poo
