hi
a nice original example. can anyone tell me if these frames are real fillet brazed
or some other faux process to resemble fillet brazing.
either way , it's a nice looking frame.
this comes with mountain lx components. what can you tell me about them.
were do they fit in the line up.

Re:

That's really nice. I love that smoke finish
These frames are tig welded and the faux 'fillet brazed'.
I'm not sure exactly how it was done, but I have a 1988 Dakota frame that need a repair so will be getting shot blasted.
Once I get this done I'll post some pics up of the bare metal frame

Re:

Mountain lx was from 1989 only.
Top that year was XT11,then Deore11 and then Mountain lx.
These 3 groups were the first 7 speed hyperglide set ups.
Below this was 18 speed exage.
Love the paint on this.

Re:

Oh boy, thanks for putting those photos up.
That was my first MTB.
I loved it.
Spent much time cleaning it as well as thousands of miles on it.
Mostly on Dartmoor.
I had it from new.

I even dragged out an old photo of it.
Unfortunately, I think this was the only photo.
I was too busy getting it muddy to be bothered about taking photos.
