Hi all,
I had originally joined the forum for my ParkPre rebuild, but as seems to be the case with everyone here, you see something and start building.
I don't believe I've had a single speed bike since I was 12, so have never really understood the attraction before.
I found the frame on here (engage bikes soul brother) - courtesy of velocipede- for free, so I simply couldn't resist!
Granted, it was a budget frame to begin with, but hey - it looks and works perfectly fine!
Exotic carbon rigid forks also from the for sale section - courtesy of xcrider.
Brakes - avid Elixir CR: bay of e
Cranks - RaceFace Ride with some narrow-wide chainring: same
Wheels / tyres and pedals: had those in the garage
Seatpost and saddle: came off the ParkPre
Stem and bars (some RafeFace evolve things): same
Grips, new headset (CK 40 series), bottom bracket (XT), single speed thingy and chain: CRC
Total cost: well under £200!
I've arranged a day at Llandegla for the weekend with my brother in law, so will be taking this along and seeing if I can actually make it around!
Be warned on the DMR SS kit - the reviews are accurate- the rear sprocket does not fit 9 speed chainins, but the tensioner does not fit wider ones...
Gearing is therefore 32/17 as I broke an old cassette up no idea what it was... not too badly worn either way.
Cheers
Mathew
