Where do some people get off....

His point was poorly made and in the wrong direction too. And most certainly not in this direction.
It's unjustified, unfair and out of order.
Cutting through the vitriol, he did have a point - one which should resonate with the account of the original incident - that the driver made a gap, so that innocents wouldn't suffer because of the numptieness of the reckless endangerrer (I just made that word up, so sue me...).

To me, that shows good driving, an awareness beyond their own lives, and the ability to put ego aside for the greater good.

The most poignant thing about it? It made me think about how I should behave whilst driving.

Is there a clique to this site? I've not been here long enough to notice.
Dunno - but it becomes troubling when people start getting defensive and talking about what "we" should take.

It just so happens, in this case, that the opinion of many differed from that of mr uktyler . . . . that's not being ganged up on..

Makes a change tbh, it's normally me standing on me own

And t**t is quite innocuous in the 21st century... lgf called himself something far worse (it made my eyes bleed a little)...

i felt it was ganging up but thats just my view which is different to you guys

did you get a reply from the firm you emailed? hope the van man gets the rollocking he deserves.

No reply yet. To be honest I don't think or expect we will.

As to the debate of whether to slow down to let him in or not. The scenarios were,

*van hits oncoming traffic at a combined speed of 120mph,
*van side swipes us and pushes us into the bank at speed,
*van somehow manges to brake and swerve in behind but the combined action of braking and swerving in a high top van is not ideal,
*we brake and let him in.

Just common scene really :? I couldn't bare to think that that irresponsible parent killed his kid passenger or killed a pregnant mother travelling the other way just because I didn't feel I should let him in.

I know where uktyler is coming from regarding driving on the continent compared to the UK. While we have fewer fatal accidents I truelly believe we have more numpty drivers. We also have high egos when it comes to overtaking, we don't like being overtaken, maybe it comes from our fair sense of queuing mentality, but having driven a fair bit on the continent, people overtake and life goes on, nobody thinks twice about it. It's just that in my situation yesterday, prick van driver got all egotistical because we overtook him previously on a dual carriageway section going uphill, we were within the limit when we past, later it was a 40mph limit and this is where he caught up and sat right tight up our bum waving. Stayed there when we went into the 60mph section before he decided to dice with death.

Apparently in a recent poll 70% of UK drivers thought that they were above average.
This means that some 20% are totally unaware of their own incompetence

I think you mean thirty percent  even more scary (70+30=100)
