I just hate the throwaway mentality :x Even the low level treks are better than some of the crap that is sold now.
 Rant over

agreed :) , waste not want not............................shame its not a 8500 or 990 though eh :)

I' m not too sure on this but i think those steel treks used to have 3 grades of finishing kit called System 1,2 and 3. depending on the price of the model.

Don't forget Scott as well, they all used to make high-end steel bikes before aluminium took over.

There are reckoned (by IMBA) to be 11 million mountain bikes in the UK owned by adults, and they also estimate that over 50% of these are never used and a further 25% are used no more than twice per annum. There are an awful lot of potentially fine retrobikes rusting away in sheds (at best) all over the country.

Spoke to my Unkle last night who's got an early nineties rockhopper and hardrock sat in the garage... 'we've not used them for over 5 years'. Wouldn't give them up though, waste really!

OK, I've actually been working on the Trek history page @ http://mombat.org/Trek.htm

So which Trek(s) are co-designed by the Cunningham connection - the 7000 range??

How did that relationship work in practice/pan out over time?

Where are all the Treks and other USA/Canada hardware !!!!!!!

The majority on this site are Brits so where are all the Raleighs, Dawes, Muddy Foxes etc. Only Paces, Oranges and other high end brit kit seems to get featured.

Does no one remember the stuff most of us started on !

Saying that though I really like Trek Y-Frame bikes and Klein Mantras.

Cheers and sorry for the rant, need caffeine.
