Back in the 90s, bar-ends were a must have accessory. They looked ultra cool, like a pair of fixed bayonets ready to slice through massed pointy helmeted hordes. They were a cheap way to customise your bike, adding your own touch and a splash of colour if that was your thing.
I still find them cool and useful when sprinting out of the saddle, or to get the extra hand position. But nowadays it's rare to see even XC oriented riders using them. So, what happened - why did they fall out of favour? All I can think is that they can look a bit silly on modern wide and/or riser bars...
Any ideas?
