What do you feed your dog?

max used to be on james welbeloved and then onto pedigree dry food but both caused stomach probs for him
vet advised us to try wagg and touch wood he has been spot on since
once a week he will have boiled chicked and rice
also fed from raised food bowls as this can cause digestion probs for large dogs
o and he is 48 kilos now

Can I ask are they fed on the floor?

Yeah thats got me curious
Dogs in the wild would eat off the ground.

My dog eats Beta complete, hes got a fantastic coat, not over weight,
his teeth and breath are better than mines. He has plenty of fresh
water at all times, and get not sweets or treat at all cause Im a tight
bas#ard

.

The one my vet always recommends is Chappie. Lucky eats whatever dried food there is though. Although tonight, he has been an extremely fortunate boy and got leftover roast duck. 8)

pug nosed dogs can get bloat , trapped wind if they eat from the floor
apparently ,and this can lead to other problems

longer nosed dogs dont suffer as much allegedly

dogs that gulp their food are also susceptible to this

my pair eat in a gentle manner and the reason their food bowls are raised
is more to save my back

We used to feed our Golden R "James Wellbeloved" kibble. She has left us now, not due, i hasten to add, to any food related illness.

We feed our dog a mix of dry, wet, scraps and anything going really and he seems really healthy for the balance/mix. And as a real treat, he sometimes sneaks to the cat litter tray and has a real feast

He was a thief, but this ended after we left a whole pound of butter out and he licked the whole lot - making him very sick.

Can't give him bakers dried food, as it makes him guff, violently.

Nice Dog, btw, Gg, is it a Staff, or a cross? I can't make it out completely???

Dogs in the wild would eat off the ground..

Well, Our dog at the time was a right scoffer..the food was twice a day but small portions (unlike dogs in the wild who have food when they want) so as a result he would wolf it down as though some one was going to steal it

at first he started with really bad wind, then poor and really bad squits..now most of this did not happen when he was a pup but as he got to almost full size..(a rough collie) went to the vets and was told..that some medium to tall dogs wolf it down and because of the neck angle cause wind gulps where they rush and cause massive bad pockets of wind that upset them..he mentioned horses being fed so thier heads were almost parallel to the food say a hay net

He suggested I tried one of the raised bowls on the stand for his feed

http://www.trendypet.com/?gclid=COmkvej ... 4QodySSYYw is an example

I did try it and the gas did die down as did the tummy issues

I used them again on my next dog, a great dane and my current dog a red setter..also to slow the speed at which they eat I put a huge big smooth stone in the bowl so they have to slow down and eat around it

Dr John's Silver Medal working dog food from the farm shop.

As it's working dog food there's no VAT and £8.99 for 15kg

It's dry and has no colouring or other e number crap etc in it.

Our black lab went up to 40++kg soon after first child came into the family and vet advised to lower the food intake etc for him.

Milo was actually described as underweight by the vet back in Aigust as he's now just under 30kg and lean.

Dog food colouring etc are justr like orange E numbers for kids soft drinks so shouyld be avoided.

He's also been on the turkey diet of the rest of us for the last week or two getting a healthy portion of scraps.

Two kids under four ensures he has a few scraps etc to go moisten his dry food so he gets a mixture.

Hey, Max the Rotti is back. I know someone will say he hasn't been any where, but I haven't seen him on here in a while. If you have been away, welcome back!
