Here is something else interesting.
In an unusual step, Yokota specified
Italian Columbus Cromor OR tubing for
this model. Its thin walls require careful
torch work, so vice-president John Harrington
had to find a smaller builder in
the Orient with the requisite skill . It
seems to have worked because the welds
on our test bike looked flawless . However,
despite the special tubing, the bike
weighs 31 .3 pounds, in part due to the
3.7-pound fork . A Rock Shox Mag 20
would save about X pounds.
Overall, the Yosemite Pro shows that
you don't have to tolerate motorcycle
prices to get a suspension bike. Moreover,
it represents the leading edge of a
new genre of affordable sprung models.
Before long, I predict we'll see shocks
on hybrids, and perhaps even (cross
yourself) road bikes.

If these things look familiar, it's because much of Yokota lived on in the Dirt Research bikes sold here in the states, by way of New Jersey, I believe. Yokota was wrapped up in a deal with World Cycle...a huge discount shop chain, and when World Cycle bit the dust, Yokota did too...and then Dirt Research, a component supplier to Yokota at the time...1995 I think...stepped in and offered essentially the Yokota frames built up as complete bikes and sold under the Dirt Research banner. DR died shortly thereafter, when MTB as a whole grew cold as a market. :cry:
All that is from memory, and I've noticed in the last few years that my memory is getting pretty bad, especially for dates.
I wish somebody else remembered a bit more about these Yokotas. I think my recollection of this stuff gets better when somebody else chimes in and tosses about a bit of info to jog my memory. I just remember wanting the Toyo Yosemite...or in a real pipe dream driven world, the Teesdale built Half Dome. Had one of the HDs for a while in 1993 and that bike was the shizzle. If you recall any of this, people...then slap me with your knowlege and maybe I'll clear out my cobwebs! 
DRs are on eBay as framesets today...Hodaka Taiwan made frames I think, but still Columbis tubes and pretty good TIG welds.
