That's fair. I'm thinking more of the stess of an inch or two unsupported head tube. But suppose not an issue on road bikes. Torsional forces on that must be high.

Yes there probably is a little more flex and twist in the steerer tube, but the length of head tube above the top tube is very short, so that will still be reasonable stiff, plus the bottom of the tube is really doing a lot more work.

Wouldn't there be less stress given longer steerer and shorter stem length all sleeved in head tube?

Waiting for a silver seat post and black/blue tyres. I've got some matching late 105 mechs and brakes but quite like the black ones. Or would all silver look prettier? Hard to tell without doing it.

Thanks. It really deserves to be much nicer but I built it from shedness. Wheels, mechs and shifters from schils plus random bits.
