so, after yet another non working wireless box, we have put in the work to leave. £38 apparantly
so now were looking at freeview and freesat
and boradband and phone comapnies
need recomendations and opinions on both

if it helps, we would like to record stuff on occasion

and for phone and broadband, we want a fairly good speed (on 10mb at the moment which is pretty good)
and unlimited downloads (or very high)
phone wise, we dont use it much, but it helps having it
quick :)

yeah they are definitely on my list
how is their customer service? assuming you may have had a problem at some point

I have had to deal with a lot of broadband customers while wearing my other hat, and I like Plusnet. You can do a one month contract with them, and see how you get on.

With technical support, I'm loathe to say this, but BT have a big advantage. BT are the only technical support providers that can't say "this is not our problem, contact your phone line supplier".

Their CS is fantastic. Based in Eastern Europe somewhere but they do not shy away from faults. You can also renegotiate your deal after a while. I currently pay 12 quid for unlimited.

No idea on phone and telly but can't beat Be for internet. Truly unlimited and fast as buggery.

i second the vote for Be broadband, apart from the crappy thompson modem/routers they supply you with, the service is faultless and the customer service has been impecable.

Had no real prob with BT a couple of years ago and now, no issues with TalkTalk either..
TalKTalk are faster than BT were and, if you can get through to the right person, their CS is pretty good too..

Not sure I'd recommend either to anyone else since they're reputations aren't generally that good

yeah modem can always be upgraded 8)
so 12 quid, plus line rental i guess?
do they do phone aswell?

also heard plusnet are good in my other thread

yeah bt are always slated but then its the same in any market, you will always have the people that shout bad things/hate and thats what generally gets heard
not the good stuff
but then you dont want to be one of the unlucky 'few'

i think Be not long ago introduced telephone to there product range, but i could be wrong.

https://www.bethere.co.uk/web/beportal/ourproducts

if you notice at the top it gives you the option of "just BB" or "BB & landline"

can't help to contact them and ask either way.

the cheapest Be service is £17pm for a 12/1.3 meg service with unlimited usage (they do have a fair usage policy but i download ALOT of stuff and have never triggered it)

you will need a BT installed phone line to be able to use Be wether you use BT as your phone provider or not so you will be paying BT for the line rental.

but as i've said before other than the crappy hardware they supply the service i've had from them has been impecable. unlike my last ISP Nildram who dispite having a fair usage policy & monthly limits would throttle our service dispite never actually going over our monthly quota.
