Bought the frame recently from eBay, am picking up components currently for the build. Lovely frame, Tange Prestige Ultralight, Pace RC35 forks. Needed an MTB as I'm doing the Durty Offroad Triathlon at St Mary's Loch next year, and I figured the TT Bike might not be best suited... Did consider a CX bike, but decidced to go with an MTB build.
My main question is - do I build as a 2x9 Campag running a compact on drops (46/34x12-29), a 3x9 (46/34/30x12-29) Campag on drops, or as a trad MTB with flat bars. I have enough spare bits to do the dropped bar builds without buying anything. Will that cause the MTB world to end?
I don't want to put Shimano on it, which is why I'm considering going for drops so I can use spare Ergo Levers... Essentially, a 26" sturdy CX bike.
