Unusual Kona models or colours

Look at this I stumbled onto in my area after redoing my own listings, a 2000/2001(?) Kaboom custom that the owner says he bought off the last owner who order it custom built? I’m not sure what to think about it to me it looks just hacked up to my untrained eye, but I was waiting to post it here until I got the seller to take a photo of the underside of BB for me to share for the Kona educated to advise on!

Kaboom example nicked off the internet -- not at all like your frame, I'm afraid. I suspect someone has put replacement decals on what looks like a jump frame. Looks like fun to ride though!

yeah thats what i thought, it looked nothing at all like anything i was familiar with, and knew something was off about it but didnt really check myself; been really busy packing the truck to head out of town for work convention tomorrow!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news -- but it could still be a Kona -- maybe a Shred, Stuff or Scab? Others more knowledgeable than I am on this site could probably confirm.

Thats not bad news, i think it be neat if it was! Its a bike thats about 20min away from me so its up for sale and id be interested in talking to the guy about it.

Sorry to disagree with you @moonlite, but I think that is a genuine 2001 Kaboom (although pretty messed about with), the silver chainstay and sliding dropout is a giveaway, not many of them about.

I havent seen a 1999 Kula frame in lime green before, they are usually red, the seller is located in Santa Cruz, hence that rogue sticker:

Sorry to disagree with you @moonlite, but I think that is a genuine 2001 Kaboom (although pretty messed about with), the silver chainstay and sliding dropout is a giveaway, not many of them about.

I wasnt sure either tbh, but had a niggling feeling I'd seen one before, so went on a web hunt.

Not sure it classes as unusual but you don’t see them like this anymore and I love them lol
