Just picked up this stumpy and plan to do a resto on it. I’d like to replace the decals but I’m having trouble tracking them down so if anyone can help out I’d appreciate itView attachment 985534View attachment 985535View attachment 985536View attachment 985537View attachment 985538
Looks like I just picked up your bikes younger brother last night. Bit rough but nothing a bit of elbow grease won't fix.

Phew, all stripped down and frame washed, it is always a relief when you get to this stage with no major problems. I first thought the seat post was stuck and it did require a bit of brute force to remove but that was because it was bent rather than stuck, and i wasn't that worried since an aluminium post in an aluminium frame is usually not a major issue. Then as I take out the various allen screws in the frame, "will they won't they come out clean" runs through my head! All fine but the gorilla who tightened the cable retaining screws on the v-brakes needs a torque wrench...I've never come across ones quite as tight before, it's a wonder he hadn't stripped the alloy threads in the brake arms.
Then the crank arms, I've had to take the angle grinder to more than one set of those, but these were fine. And finally the bottom bracket...will it or won't it play ball, and this one was perfect, came out like a well-greased BB should! As I washed it down, I checked for dents and though there were scratches, I could not find any. And I just love an M2 frame which means the scratches stay nice and clean!

Here it is in all its glory. I could just clean and lube everything, put in a new seat post and chain and be riding it this afternoon. IMG_3490.webp IMG_3491.webp IMG_3494.webp IMG_3492.webp
