here comes the great divide!

is it obligatory to wear a helmet at meets? the uni club says you have to so ive never been on a ride with them :(

No you don't have to wear a lid. i don't

Someone once tried not wearing a lid on a NW area event, he was made to ride a Raleigh Activator 2 and laughed at.

I dont wear a lid and would happily ride an activator.

I would happily ride an activator too but not the activator 2!

im still in two minds about wearing a helmet
not because im 'cool' (although i damn well am  ) but because there are conflicting opinions
obviously we wear such items based upon what people tell us

I base my decision not to wear on my own actions. Stuff any body else.

I am also in two minds, so to solve the problem, sometimes I wear one and other times I don't. Just travelling about, I wear a leather Aussy bush hat on my head, but if I feel the need to comply and be sporty, I wear the cycling clobber including my el cheapo Wilkinson's lid which I disguised/ enhanced with satin black rattle can paint.

But, when you have long hair, cycling helmets are a real pain.
