Today's Ride

Lovely ride by the east coast here in Jutland, Denmark. Sunny but breezy, just how I like it. Not that sauna like heat we've been having for the last week. To make the ride even more enjoyable I was joined by my better half, who's recently been getting back on the bike.

Many people were out swimming and the campgrounds were flooded with homo sapiens.

I waited for the hottest part of the day to pass and set out for a ride at about 17:30 today. By then, the temperature was down to 29°C and it had dropped further to about 23°C when I returned at 20:00. The coast appealed but I thought it would be too busy so I went exploring some of the local villages and hamlets - places with quaint names like Sole Street, Anvil Green, Street End and Pett Bottom. It was a beautiful evening and quintessential summertime in England.

Best day yet. Round to the lad's house and out in the blistering sun at 11am for a trundle up the canal, onto the Middlewood Way as far as Higher Poynton and The Boar's Head for sugary beverages:)
Return via said Way then down the back of Marple by the river to Chadkirk and back into Romiley.
Hot, sweaty? Yes! Fun? Yes:)

98 is the workhorse. Old reliable. Dependable. Faithful. Comfortable. A friend. It has been the one constant over the last 4 years. Others have come and gone. None could take its place...

Today we did 30mph at 30°c.

We kept it short and sweet. My favoured riding climate is half that.

Tomorrow, much the same is expected.

Sometimes the ride makes the bad times go away. Even if only for a short while.

The highlight of my commute this morning was passing the Coop in Rawmarsh. It looked like it had been ram-raided. The crims round here are so last century. The police are looking for 20 cans of Desperados, a box of king size Rizla, and a grands worth of scratchcards...

More shots of the riverbank (Don).

Temperature is still high. Trying to take it a bit easier. 29°c on the way home. Felt like more.

Great to see folks out and about. It's been 3 weeks of running whilst the Esatto got a well overdue full service. Finding a LBS is one thing, but finding a mechanic just 3 miles up the road is even better. Carn Bikes (Stuart) is a top man, really knows his onions and has worked bike-magic which meant this morning, it felt (and sounded) like I was riding a brand new bike. The less said about the state of my wheels beforehand the better.

So, blue skies and hot golden sunshine with a few high clouds, 22 rising to 24 or thereabouts. Healthy and well received breeze. I just needed to pedal and pedal hard, so I scooted all over the place before quick stop at Mousehole before the grockles arrive/wake-up. I can use that term now right? I'm full Cornish shirely... 🤣 ;)

Today other responsibilities prevented my commute being two wheeled. So the pictures are from yesterday.

Stifling heat. All but 30°c again.

Went out for a long ride today with a friend, before the rains come in this weekend.

We rode a great loop which crosses numerous fields, which is fine this time of year when the ground is hard. And as the fields go on for a bit it is rare that you come across anyone else. And it also makes a nice change from all the woods and singletrack around these here parts.

Had a great ride and the slightly cooler weather was nearly perfect for riding.
