They don't care anymore. Rock up with a battery grinder in Broad daylight and take 60 seconds to destroy any lock. It's why I also go with making it look unworthy of the effort or two locks, so the bike next to it looks easier.

60 seconds will do 3 locks.
The police know who the thieves are here though, so they can't "go equipped".
Spot a bike, then go get the tools.

Also visibly marked frame means it's hard to pass off as legit without extra work, which depresses the saddle value.

I was scoped by a pair of thieves last week on a 4k trek ebike - that's what they are really after.
2 kiddies in balaclavas on an e- motorbike riding around the pedestrian bridges and tunnels under the M32. Lucky for me I was exiting in the opposite direction, but I'll stick to the road if I'm on a similar piece in future
