The No Longer Avoidable Independence Debate Thread

I hope the yes vote gets it...

No more Scottish football updates on 5Live!

In all seriousness if I was voting I'd be voting yes. I think the UK political scene could do with a shake up. If Scotland were to start becoming more like a Scandinavian country I'd probably move there!

What I do find amazing is the total lack of definitive information and a PLAN for the Scottish electorate on which to base a decision.

I guess my point was that no information regarding economics is definitive. If it was, 2007-08 would never have been allowed to happen.

Fair point re Plan B for currency. But what is happening is politics, not information provision. Plans A, B, C and D have been assessed. At the moment Plan A is preferred and Yes don't wish to discuss anything else. Yet. I'm personally not persuaded that sticking the pound is the best option, but I can understand the Yes guys don't want to cave in at this stage. It will be for negotiation and they can't concede the point at the first big bluff/threat.

About the only person who has actually given some reasoned argument/fact to one element of the debate is Mark Carnie and he's not even from the UK.

Yeh. Depressing. He gave a reasoned appraisal and made it perfectly clear that a currency union could work if the willingness to negotiate was there. The Westminster parties are hypocrites. First they say they can't negotiate currency issues before the referendum result. Carnie says it can work subject to negotiation. The Westminster mob then pull the plug and say there is nothing to talk about anyway. It is pitiful.

- please still let us come and ride from time to time!!

No worries there mate - we're a welcoming lot and will be happy to change your south Britain pounds for our Mcpounds/groats/kroners
