The " FOR SALE " forum.

Sorry, I can't let this go sunshine.
Firstly, It has nothing to do with the for sale section; you advertised in the wanted section for a rare, hard to obtain caliper that you needed. INCORRECT - general MTB chat, general enquiry not a wanted advert, not a rare part, not a complete caliper, half a knackered one

I have one, and I offered it to you at £10 for the half.
You then gave me a sob story indicating that I should sell it to you for a fiver; in effect , after postage, packing and getting to the post office, giving it to you. INCORRECT - Not a sob story, in fact I said I was happy to be getting paid in two months, I stated I could not afford it now, I stated what I could afford, there is no way it'd cost you £5 to post half a caliper and anyway people karma all the time, I've done it and I can't afford to, no big deal, that's the spirit of this place

You acused me of having something against poor people. INCORRECT - I said against me, because of your attitude

I was getting thoroughly fed up with your attitude, so told you my situation (major heart surgery , blah blah, will only work for 3 months this year blah blah).
You apologised, which I accepted, INCORRECT - I did not apologise, I did however pay you immediately because of your story

and I did tell you I could not guarantee that the caliper would work without new seals. These only cost a couple of quid, but , no, you wanted a full guarantee, or money back. INCORRECT - I asked you to check it, if you sell something for a premium price that doesn't work and you can't be bothered to check it before sending, why should I keep it?

I sold one the same a few months ago, fully working for £30. Get the picture? I doubt you sold half a corroded calliper half which may or may not work for £30. I sent you ebay links for similar parts for 0.99p + postage

Yes I have just bought a new frame, but it was a bargain . I need full suss to help soften the bumps , as I get used to cycling again. In order to buy it, I had to sell my favourite bike ever, my much loved Dekerf. I would rather have kept that. Check the For Sale section here. Who cares? You said you couldn't afford a fiver difference on the part you offered to sell and said it would mean the difference in your daughters happiness. Your frame did not cost a fiver. You either can play with your daughter and pay for the cinema or you can't, it had nothing to do with me

Oh, and I did not slag you off. In a PM I called you a tit. Technically calling some one a name is an insult, thus slagging them off, doubly rude as it was after I paid you

I wouldn't do THAT in public... [< Now that's just funny, ]

Oops couldn't resist it's a slow day at work.

I did not want to start drama and I did not want to name the person.

I paid in under a day and thus held up my part of the deal as a buyer.

I just wanted to vent and see what others thought of a person using an illness, the illness's of others and a childs happiness to sell a bike part.

Then to see what you'd think of being insulted and having your money thrown back in your face just for asking for them to check the part before sending.

Then to top it off, how'd you feel if the next day the seller proves they've lied about it all?

I am done with this, I've said my piece, I really like this place but a members actions made me feel cheated.

Arguing on the internet is never going to look good for either party

I just thought I'd check my feelings were justified. I'll sign off for a few days now (will still respond to pms for those dealing with me), hopefully this will have blown over by then.

No , It's all true, Dr Robotnik- Honest! I am skint, skinter than I've ever been in my life, , and although I'm not averse to sending people stuff they need, for nowt, If somethings worth a few quid, then kerrching .
I had already told you "I'm pretty certain it's working, but I can't guarantee it." If that is not acceptable, then why send the money and attach conditions? If you need something that badly, having been looking for a while, it pays to treat people nicely.
What I told you about my situation is totally true, and I, just like you, have been feeling sorry for myself. What I told you, in confidence, in a PM, about the guy I met in hospital, is also true. Meeting him DID put my situation in perspective. It made me feel very humble. There IS always someone in a worse situation than oneself.
Besides, isn't the caliper the wrong colour anyway?

At least the new people are offering their stuff to us.

I think new rules for the forum would only make things worse.

At the end of the day the rule is dibs are not enforceable. If you do dib it should be a request not an order.

When i see 'dibs' i read 'that's mine' not 'can you please reserve this for me'

People 'dib' in different ways..

Some are polite, others come across like guerilla buyers. . .

I'm happy to hold on to stuff for people, people have done the same for me and I am grateful.. I've not let anyone down though.. if I say I'll have it, I'll have it.

Under the current system the seller makes the terms.. and that's kinda how it should be imo.. it is their property they are selling after all..

8)

There is two point to make...

"dibs until..."

is different to

"i'll take xyz pm coming"

I always do the latter, it keeps the thread open and people can see what's happening. I have on occasion lost something by mear seconds because I was polite enough to post in the main sale thread first.

Who was that?!!?! Go on, give us a clue.... sounds like a proper cnut, I hate all that sob story crap, if you can't afford it, don't buy it.

Not naming, because I believe in second chances and I'm not a narc.

I'll mention it if they reveal themselves through their actions again.

Just left such a sour taste in my mouth.

P.S. I was the buyer and got out sob storied  The problem was theirs seems to have been a lie, so along with the post transaction insults, I felt gutted.

Sorry but that person deserves a name & shame...pretty low stuff.

I've been snaked to a set of wheels recently but couldn't be arsed to kick up a fuss about it....plenty more knocking about.

Bottom of page 1 will give a fuller account Neil..it may change your opinion.

Read and I'm sure know one else but the buyer and seller here will know the full story.

None of my business though...all teh transactions I've had on RB so far regarding buying and selling parts have been very good.
