The " FOR SALE " forum.

It has got a bit grubby with sales lately.

One member told me the other day they'd not worked for two years (because of illness).
Had a heart complaint so they couldn't play with their daughter (or work).
Because they couldn't work they wanted me to over pay so he could take her to the cinema.

That came off the back of me asking a little lower price because I was between jobs and wouldn't get paid till the end of the month.

Even though it was over priced I relented and paid because I said the daughter should get to see the cinema and it just seemed so sad.

I then got slagged off by that member.

The next day they posted a new bike they'd bought themself.

So much for being too sick to work and having no money to take your daughter to the pictures.

Sorry rant over, just had to put it out there as it was just over a tenner

Still love the site, but some people don't seem to get it lately.

Not naming, because I believe in second chances and I'm not a narc.

I'll mention it if they reveal themselves through their actions again.

Just left such a sour taste in my mouth.

P.S. I was the buyer and got out sob storied  The problem was theirs seems to have been a lie, so along with the post transaction insults, I felt gutted.

Sorry, I can't let this go sunshine.
Firstly, It has nothing to do with the for sale section; you advertised in the wanted section for a rare, hard to obtain caliper that you needed.
I have one, and I offered it to you at £10 for the half.
You then gave me a sob story indicating that I should sell it to you for a fiver; in effect , after postage, packing and getting to the post office, giving it to you.
You acused me of having something against poor people.
I was getting thoroughly fed up with your attitude, so told you my situation (major heart surgery , blah blah, will only work for 3 months this year blah blah).
You apologised, which I accepted, and I did tell you I could not guarantee that the caliper would work without new seals. These only cost a couple of quid, but , no, you wanted a full guarantee, or money back. I sold one the same a few months ago, fully working for £30. Get the picture?
Yes I have just bought a new frame, but it was a bargain . I need full suss to help soften the bumps , as I get used to cycling again . In order to buy it, I had to sell my favourite bike ever, my much loved Dekerf. I would rather have kept that. Check the For Sale section here.
Oh, and I did not slag you off. In a PM I called you a tit. I wouldn't do THAT in public...

Been let down too many times by the dibs mob and the others who ask for pictures then cop the hump when you sell to someone who says "I will take it please"

I have been here from early on too and it happened then as well, always been a few tyre kickers about

Would say though that I feel all negotiations should be on the thread, that stops any offers by PM and transparency is good in case of any disputes too

Cheers
Rich

The only way to sort this, imo, would be for the management to set out concise selling rules.

Not saying they should (christ knows it's tough enough running a forum without more to do), or that it'd be a good idea.. just that if they were standardised it may help.

Yes.. but they fall slightly short of dealing with the subject of this thread.

They are very good as far as they go.. more in-depth than I've seen on other forums too..
