The Curse of SUP ..... SORTED

I have this clicking sound emanating from a Mavic Crossland rim which was made using the SUP process (Soude, Udine Proces) soldered and then welded which apparently makes for a smoother joint However I think the pin used in the soldering part has come loose and is causing the clicking. I think I've read about this problem somewhere on here but I wonder if anyone has experienced it and even managed to fix it. Thanks.

I've fixed this before. What I did was find a small pointed screwdriver and pushed the pin/joint thing in as far as it could go, then used the screwdriver with a hammer and tapped the inner rim to create a burr that held the wedge in place. You could glue it in place as well though.

Or, some joker put a spoke nipple in the rim when it was being built up!

I've had that a number of times now.

I have this problem also and physical took the rim apart looking for a rogue nipple etc never found it,
put the rim back and years later built it up again forgetting about the clicking noise, if annoys the f&*k out of me.

I don't follow the above ^^ but will have a look tonight and hope its obvious once the tyre and rim tape is off.

It really works I gave the rim the screwdriver and hammer treatment yesterday and went for a test ride round the block. No clickage Oh happy day

Finally got round to tackling mine, and the joint was so far out of position it was un real, after following the method above and a spot epoxy resin to keep it there, I now have a quiet rim

Gotta love this place
