The birds cometh

Last time I saw starlings in those numbers was about 15 yeas ago when they landed on the roof of our bungalow and the one next door.. twas mightily eery.. and when they all took off was mental.. the missus went indoors, somewhat unnerved

Now we randomly get a few hundred crows in an airborne swarm... that's quite a sight 8)

are they rare?

Crows?? Nope... but I've not seen them in herds this size before....

Little spangl birds cyfa....they sparkle in the sun like oil on a puddle....usually slightly cheeky and willing to knick your chips from your hand in my town.....  generally see about a dozen at a time......

They were exterminated from alot of towns before you were born for crapping on peoples cars.......I remember an audi near our house tht was red one night...the next morning it was white......

And and and . . . they are from the same family as Mynah birds and have been known to mimic sounds they hear regularly . .

And crows, magpies et al can be taught to speak too...

I have two pet jackdaws mate....they are massively cool and part of our family.......baby gerald will lay in your arms and watch the telly before falling to sleep

There was a starling that used to sit on the roof near our neighbours house and make telephone noises....the old girl would run indoors then come out then run indoors and come back out......hilarious...I told her after about a year...reckon the exercise kept her young mate

We had a talking crow at the pet shop.. people thought we were doing some kind of ventriloquist trickery..

And the old ladies used to love the swearing Mynah bird...

I'd reeeeally like a hand reared Raven but the cost

We found one of our jackdaws on our local market place with a wing missing and nearly dead about thirteen years ago....I brought him home and fed him for a couple of weeks.....but what can you do with a one winged bird.......couldnt release him.....

then about three years after I found another one near my house and he was caught in some mesh that was put up to stop birds landing on a church window ledge....it had ripped through the end segment of his wing....he can fly about four foot of the ground and the back down again.....

poor little buggers....now thirteen years later they still live in a big parrot cage in my house

haha good tales
yeah i believe ive seen them around town then, quirky little things that look at you with a certain curiosity
